Second Name Change on Passport

We got a reader question that we feel probably applies to a few people around here! A reader asked us about changing the name on your passport twice.

An adult passport lasts 15 years, so it's very possible to have your passport is originally issued in your married name, get divorced and have it changed to your maiden name, and then get married again with a new married name. That's what happened for this reader.

If that's the case, you will apply for a renewal with form DS-82 and submit all necessary documents, along with a certified copy of your marriage certificate for the name change. You will be issued a new passport.
