Land of the 10 beer
You hear talk of how expensive Norway is. But you think of course that is people who aren39t seasoned travellers who allow themselves to be taken advantage of in tourist traps. Not me.....But this beer cost 62kr from a reasonably average pub that was full of Norwegians we were the only people speaking English. 62kr is 9.80.This followed on from the 50 sandwich and coffee for two for lunch.

Can I get a Passport Without Travel Plans?
When you fill out your passport application, it asks you for your travel plans on the standard form. We got a reader question asking, "Can I get a passport without specific travel plans?"
Yes, you can. If you do not have specific travel plans when you apply for your passport, you can just leave this section blank. In order to get an expedited passport, on the other hand, you must prove you have travel plans in the next two weeks.
To get a regular passport, just leave the section blank and wait until your passport arrives. Once you have your passport in hand you can travel wherever you like!

Return to US with Expired Passport?
We got a reader question from a woman staying in Canada with her 5-year-old who's passport has expired. She wanted to know if her daughter can re-enter the US with an expired passport.
Unfortunately, our reader was planning on traveling by plane. A child cannot re-enter the United States with an expired passport by air. A child can, however, travel back into the US with a birth certificate by land. As long as she can change her plans and travel in a car, her child should be fine re-entering the United States.
If she cannot change her plans, she?ll need to travel to the nearest US Embassy or use an online passport expediter.

Changing Passport Back to Maiden Name
After a divorce or death of a spouse, a woman may want to change her name back to her maiden name. We got a reader question asking how to change a passport name back to her maiden name.
To do this, you can submit a divorce decree or a court order so specifying.
If you do not have a court order, but you use your maiden name exclusively now, you can submit:
-3 pieces of acceptable identification

-Evidence of claim to the former name

Cherry Blossom fests will focus on helping Japanese earthquake victims

The tragedy of the massive earthquake, ensuing tsunami and volatile nuclear situation that continues to unfold across the Pacific in Japan has wrenched the hearts of sympathetic Americans. It is difficult to imagine the devastation and loss already, let alone begin to conceive a return to normal ? especially as a nuclear threat still looms.
With that said, Delta Air Lines resumed its normal flight schedule to Tokyo on Monday after canceling flights over the weekend. Even as threats of radiation leaks grew higher yesterday, Delta and American Airlines said normal operations would continue.
Other than those involved with relief efforts, I wonder how many will be traveling as normal to Tokyo or the rest of Japan. The U.S. government has issued a travel alert, urging Americans to avoid travel to Japan over the next month. On Monday, however, Delta said it continues to see strong bookings.

When you have the chance to get away unexpectedly, how do you decide where to go? It?s not a vacation. You don?t have time to really plan. Nor is it a romantic getaway, where the agenda pretty much sets itself. A lucky few can take those unexpected days and whisk off to exotic locales, but most of us take our last-minute travels to places that are more affordable and much closer to home.
So how do you choose a quick getaway destination that provides a little rest, a little relaxation and a good story to share with your friends and colleagues when you get home?
The prospect of a couple of days away has recently come up for me ? right in the dead of winter. It?s unexpected, so my travel budget is pretty small. (Read, no paying through the nose for last-minute airfare.) It?s just a couple of days, so any trip must fall within an easy drive of Atlanta. The short answer is "yes." You will need extra pages for multiple visas. The State Department recommends that you order new visa pages when you have 2-4 pages left. Xingping and the Li river
This is one of the most scenic areas in the province. We took a local bus from Yangshuo to Xingping. It is only 25 km and cost about 7 yuan. Passing through villages along the way we arrive in Xingping only to be swamped by local touts who pester you with nagging to go on a bamboo ride.
