Documents are Returned Separately from Your Passport

You send a lot of documents when you submit your passport. Many of these are important to you, like a naturalization certificate, a birth certificate, or a marriage certificate. We got a reader question saying that she received her passport, but not her supporting documents in the mail.

This has a really simple answer, so this is more like a PSA for anyone worried about where your documents are. Supporting documents are returned separately from your physical passport. Once you receive your passport in the mail, you should get your supporting documents soon. If you do not, you can contact the National Passport Information Center... but they should be on their way!
