?I Forgot to Check the Passport Book Box!?

Hey, we all make mistakes! When you fill out form DS-82 for a passport renewal, there is a small box where you check passport card or book.

Some people forget to check one box or the other or they don't understand the difference. If you realize afterwards that you didn't check one of the boxes, it's probably going to fine! We got a reader question asking if her application would be sent back, but that's unlikely.

Because you also send a check with your application, the passport officials will probably just use that amount to figure out what you meant, since the renewal for a passport card is $20, the book is $75 and both are $95.
