Obtaining an Ancestor?s Passport

Kelly from Staten Island asked us how she can get a copy of her great-grandfather's passport. With how many people are getting very interested in family history these days, this is a pretty common request.

The first step is to find out if the passport was issued before or afer 1925. After 1925, you will need to fill out a bunch of information (listed on our site, of course!) and send it, along with $60, to the Department of State. If it was issued before 1925 all you have to write to the National Archive and Records Administration.
