Do I Have to leave when my Visa is up?

We got a reader question asking about her allowed 90 days in Germany. When you get a travel visa to Germany, you are allowed 90 days in the country. This is true of many countries, particularly those privy to the Schengen agreement. So, when the 90 days are up, do you have to leave? For how long?

The short answer is yes, you do have to leave once your visa is up. With just a tourist visa, you cannot extend it past the 90 days allowed from overseas. You cannot just turn fly home, grab another visa, and fly back either. You must remain the states for 90 days before getting another 90 days visa, as well.
