Passport of a Deceased Person

Once a person passes away, there are several documents with their personal information that you may wish to have cancelled or destroyed to avoid any cases of identity theft. The passport, of course, is one of them. We have answered what to do with the passport of a deceased person.

First, you can absolutely keep the passport as a memento. There is nothing that says that you must have the passport cancelled or destroyed.

If you would like the passport cancelled and returned to you or destroyed, you must mail your passport to CLASP. The address is listed on our site.
