Passport Day in the USA 2013

A few passport application acceptance facilities in each state will be opening their doors for Passport Day in the USA 2013. The event, which will take place on Saturday, March 9, gives American citizens who work and/or study during the week an opportunity to apply for a new passport. Due to the budget sequestration, Department of State Passport Agencies will not be participating. Also, locations are very limited. For example, only 1 facility in Alabama and 2 in Hawaii will be participating. Minors age 15 and under must be accompanied by both parents in order to apply for a passport. One parent may apply for a minor's passport if that parent submits a notarized consent form from the absent parent or evidence of sole legal custody. Applications are not processed at the acceptance facilities. Time to receive a passport is estimated to be 4 to 6 weeks for standard processing and 2 to 3 weeks for expedited service. Applicants who need passport more quickly should schedule an appointment at a regional agency or employ the services of a registered expediter.
